An article published on Smashing Magazine states that the best way to make money is to write your own e-book, and in addition to this, he recommends a online marketing books to accompany the writing. Well, when I read this I couldn't help but laugh, because I have no idea how someone can write an e-book and then buy a digital marketing book. If you buy your own digital marketing book from someone you will be wasting your money.
A digital marketing book will cost you much more than if you wrote your own book. So why buy?
Because it says you are special in your own self esteem? How much of an ego jerk is that? That's probably what is driving these people, right?
And yet, after reading about this absurdity I just had to do a little research, so I did. It turns out that the author of the digital marketing book is Mike Cernovich, and he has been involved in everything from internet marketing to finding his wife's missing husband.
He has written books and articles about marketing, and he has been very successful at it. In fact, his strategy for marketing is based on two words – "the power of the weak."
His strategy is to get his employees to work in their offices during the day, and to sell the people who go to work with him after him. You might be saying to yourself, "But what if I could only sell a few people each day?" So that's what he does.
He'll drive down to the office, get all his employees to come down, and hold a little open house where he can try to get people to come up to his sales force and sign up for a free report. But he can't sign them up unless they are willing to buy the report. But that's OK, because these people won't actually buy the report.
This is just a way to get them to come up to his sales force, and his strategy for getting people to buy the reports is basically just to get his employees to use him. That's all. It's not some grand scheme to make money.
So why not write your own product instead? That's a good question. Here's my answer.
First of all, I would have to learn a lot, and secondly, I think I'm not qualified to write my own digital product. The other day I was looking over some marketing content from the internet, and there was a lot of jargon and seemingly too complicated details. The marketing content had nothing to do with selling anything.
I think the real marketing material is the one I would put in a box, and that would be the low-hanging fruit. There are two things you should know about writing your own digital product: first, you're not an expert, and second, you're not an expert if you're not writing.
That's what I mean by "writing your own sales pages" or what's also called "content writing." I think this is where the big money is, and that's why I'm so adamant about it. And you shouldn't be a naysayer, if you like to write, either.
